death to life - inspirational poem
by Geoffrey Watts
In loving memory of my nephew Marcus

Death is so sharp that it can cut.
Death is quick and it's abrupt.
Death's effects reach everyone.
Some people become hysterical;
Some turn numb...
Yet, I want to bring this point to light.
It's up to those living to bring death to life!
The point I'm making should be made plain.
Have those now deceased lived their life in vain?
Tears and memories only fill a portion of legacy's cup.
But as time winds to erase the past, the question asked is...
"Are recollections deemed enough?"
Or can we go that extra step, where more than memories are left?
By memorializing a love one's name
Thus adding more meaning to their remains
Whether it's a banner, a scholarship, or a plaque,
They will never leave though they're never coming back.
Will you as supporters take this step?
To have a place where a legacy is kept?
Please don't let death go unrecognized.
After day's fade, still affect others lives.
Just don't leave those not here with good-byes.
What tribute befits the deceased after they're eulogized?
Take the rain and add the light.
Reverse the effects of a tragic plight.
It's up to someone to reverse death's strife.
Be challenged to always bring death to life!
