Introduction from
A Piece of My Paradise

Renown subway poet, Dr. Groove has amazed Chicago with his resilience as a lyricist over the years. Making history (recently acknowledged within the prestigious Museum of Science & Industry's recent Black Creativity Hip-Hop Exhibit) as the first rapping and mixing DJ in the city of Chicago to cut a rap record in his home town. Dr. Groove also was bequeathed by Upski to be the first black writer for Source Magazine to represent their regional reports section. He is responsible for many hip-hop careers blossoming in Chicago. He left Hip-Hop to go into gospel poetry and the city has fell in love with his direct, uncomplicated style as well as the ministry that comes along with his recitations. When he recently made the front cover of the widely circulated and popular "StreetWise" publication (June edition 2002) it sold out! He has been asked to not only frequent churches, but prisons, shelters, colleges, and high schools throughout Chicago and is also President of Christian Poets Society, the largest organization of Christian poets (41) in Chicago.
