The Challenge
by Geoffrey Watts

Corporate African-American male
We love you well
We applaud the fact that you excelled
However,
The present time we face calls for a more intimate embrace
You are becoming too intertwined with the world's paper chase
Young men don't get to see your positive images
A twelve-hour workday never replenishes
The depleted injections needed to impact impressionable lives
Without your commitment
None of us will survive
Corporate African-American male
We love you well
We applaud the fact that you excelled
However,
You throw money into various charities
When, in actuality, you add to the disparity
because your money can never equal quality time
Without a live example, our children fall behind
Why are you leaving thugs the space to infect
So many precious minds with a lack of respect?
Is all you care about is how to spend your next check?
To whom much is given, much is required, so please re-connect!
